A 19-year-old in California was charged with credit card fraud last week after he used a stolen card to rent a $12 million vacation home for $27,000. The teen also spent $13,000 renting a 2012 McLaren sports car worth $240,000.
Mohanned Halaweh was arrested after the owner of the car reported it stolen to police. The prosecutors involved with the case charged Halaweh with four felonies: receiving stolen property, credit card fraud, identity theft and vehicle theft. He is being held under $100,000 bail. Another 19-year-old in the car with Halaweh, Nhimia Kahsay, was booked for outstanding fraud warrants. His bail was set at $60,000.
This is not the first time Halaweh has committed a significant crime. In March, the teen was charged with allegedly using a fake credit card to buy two laptops and 14 iPhones from an Apple store in Berkeley.
